Safety

The user of our products acknowledges both an understanding, and an assumption of the risk involved in paddle sports, and the use of our Products and Accessories at entirely his or her own risk.  Paddle Sports can be very dangerous and physically demanding. The user of this product should understand that participating in paddle sports may involve serious injury or death. Please Observe the following safety standards, whenever using a kayak or Canoe.

  • Do Not Paddle in Flood Conditions
  • Always use a paddle leash
  • Never Paddle alone
  • Be Aware of river water levels, tidal changes, strong currents, inshore/off shore winds and any change in weather condition.
  • Avoid overhanging trees, underwater obstacles, flood conditions be aware that weirs can be hazardous.
  • Always let someone know details and duration of your trip
  • Always ask advice about unfamiliar waters
  • Use transport portage where appropriate
  • Do Not exceed your paddling ability; be honest with yourself and your own capabilities.
  • Obtain certified first aid and rescue training and carry first aid kit, phone, bilge pump, sponge etc
  • Consult your physician prior to beginning your paddle sport training
  • Always use an approved life jacket (high visibility on open waters)
  • Always follow the manufactures recommendations for the use of your kayak or canoe.
  • Do not open/use hatches on open water
  • Always dress appropriately for all weather conditions (hypothermia/ sun stroke)
  • If you add or have additional outfitting on your craft only use manufactures approved materials (do not impair your entry or exit.
  • Always check before use for craft and equipment for signs of wear or failure
  • Do not use alcohol or mind altering drugs when using a kayak or canoe
  • Always be aware of swimmers and other water users keep a safe distance
  • Always get instruction from licensed certified instructor before attempting canoeing or kayaking   
  • Make sure you have relevant local authority river license
  • Make sure passengers can swim
  • Always practise capsize and rescue techniques
